Bringing East and West Coasts together! February 7, 2007

Posted by Ellie in : Client of the Month , trackback

Our first featured clients are a team of graphic designers based in California - Cameron Smith Graphic Design who were working with an artist, David King, living in Halifax Nova Scotia. The project involved three pieces of artwork which were commissioned from David. The design team, who were working on a project for the band ‘Afterward‘, needed someone to digitally capture this artwork using a high resolution device and prepare these files for print on CDs, posters and the like.

The designers asked the artist to find a suitable company to provide them with the high quality files they wanted, but he was not satisfied with what he was able to find locally. Searching the internet, Cameron and his partner Ryan found Innovative Imaging Studio:

You guys were a great find !
- Cameron Smith

David brought us out his three paintings and we prepared the files to the specifications of Cameron and his team. This involved capturing the art on our high resolution medium format digital device. This records incredible detail and colour information. Steve’s experience in this work together with precise and balanced lighting and a fully colour-managed workflow produces a file that will be suitable for all types of output including the highest spec required for fineart printing and reproduction. Next I took the files and prepared them for the output according to the specifications supplied by the designers. These images were then burned onto archival CD media and shipped out to California by courier.

We asked Cameron what made him decide to chose us to do this work for them:

First of all we were impressed by the way you were prepared to talk to us at length on the telephone and were so helpful with explaining the technical aspects. This really helped us in the design process. As well, you were so focussed on customer service.

It is very hard to find someone who specialises in fine art capture as you do.

You can see some of the work that was made possible in bringing together East and West coasts - thanks to the internet.

Thanks so much once again for helping us. Please give our regards to Steven - tell him the files have really worked out great! We’re looking forward to working with you again.

Thanks Cameron, Ryan and David. It was a pleasure working with all of you and we, too, look forward to working with you on the next project which is in the pipeline!

Update July 4, 2007:

Speaking of the next project… here it is! The image is also by David King and is entitled Mysterious Woman. The files are now winging their way to California. Thanks again, Ryan and Cameron (and David, for the great paintings to work with).
